My Impressions of the movie "Norwegian Woods"

I have seen the movie "Norwegian Woods".
Because I love Haruki Murakami’s novels, I can't miss a movie based on his novel. Because I love his novels and have my own impression and interpretation, I was worried that I would be disappointed about difference between the novel and the movie. So I tried to watch the movie without thought of the novel just as a new movie by Tran Anh Hung.
I am relieved that it is a good movie even though I can't call a masterpiece in the result. The scenes of a sanatorium in Kyoto and cliffs where Watanabe-kun walked around are very beautiful. The blue color of Tran's film fits with quiet mood of the story. The movie "Norwegian Woods" is a piece of work which is independent from the novel "Norwegian Wood". It is success to have Tran Anh Hung direct this movie.
My own interpretation of the novel "Norwegian Woods" and Mr. Tran's are obviously different, and it was true that I felt uncomfortable about it. But I felt like that Haruki’s fans talked their impressions of his novels each other.
Good actresses are casted in this movie.
I worried that Rinko Kikuchi was too older to act as Naoko, but she did great job. She expressed Naoko's anxiousness very well. She showed mood of disquiet behind her silent smile. It fits Naoko that Rinko isn’t too beautiful.
Kiko Mizuhara as Midori and Eriko Hatsune as Hatsumi-san are very cute. Kiko has a Vietnamese like exotic face and looks like a heroin of the movie "The Scent of Green Papaya" made by Mr. Tran. He might like her face.
I think I'll see Tran's old works.
